Hmong Nature Conservancy Activity (hnca)
-- is dedicated to the study and protection of our Earth’s environmental resources and wild habitats. Formed by a group of Hmong parents and teens who value providing education and experience to our youth through field trips connected to lesson books, we seek to open the vistas of our young people to their responsibility as guardians of the world around us. Through scientific instruction to the study of living things, our Hmong youth learn the potential of connecting the laboratory with the nature in providing medicines for the well being of our families. And by sharing observations, our youth form a bond with our grandparents who relate time-honored lessons of earth husbandry from our old land of Laos while developing together the means and methods to preserve the precious resources in both lands. Program Elements:
• To instruct Hmong youth to value the beauty of our Earth and all its Flora and Fauna and understand their interconnected roles
• To engage Hmong youth to protect our environment at home by clearing local streets, parks and rivers
• To provide Hmong youth opportunities to explore nature through field trips, experience camping adventures while learning how to protect forests, rivers and wild habitats
• To increase cultural awareness and language proficiency of Hmong by providing exciting ways to use what they have teamed in written and oral presentations to parents, class and friends
• To create opportunities for Hmong youth to develop career paths for environmental service including such fields as forestry, marine biology, and animal husbandry |
