Center for Hmong Adolescent Development (CHAD)
was initially active in mid-1998 in cooperation with HAMAA, undertaking its mission to identify, contact, communicate with and bring back into the Hmong Community those youth who are runaways or “family castaways” (those young people ordered out of the house for some alleged violation of cultural, legal or moral laws and “family honor”) now involved in youth gang activity. Former soldiers and their wives serve as Mentors for those youth from broken homes or orphaned by the war who need the guidance of a senior family member to develop a life path and return to our Community. Program Elements:
• At-Risk-Youth Intervention
• Parent/Teen Relations
• Youth Guidance
• Hmong Community Safety Net
• Personal Goals Development
